6 Ways Your Wisconsin License Plate Could Get You Busted
Road trip season is almost here. But be careful exploring Wisconsin roads, your license plate needs to be added to your pre-trip checklist or you could get ticketed.
One quick thing to add to your pre-road trip checklist you may think it's not as important as checking your tire conditions and fluid levels, but I'd bet you'd like to avoid getting a ticket.
6 UNSUSPECTING Ways Your Wisconsin License Plate Could Get You Busted
How Many Plates Must Be Displayed on Passenger Vehicles
1. State law requires that when WisDOT issues two license plates, both plates must be attached to the vehicle; one on the front and one on the rear.
Keep The License Plates Clean
2. The plates must be maintained in a legible condition and displayed so that they can be seen and read.
Sticker Placement
3. State law also requires that you place registration month and year stickers on the rear license plate in the manner directed by WisDOT. Stickers:
- Must be affixed to the REAR license plate, right side up.
- May not cover any letters, numbers, or other registration information.
EV Hybrid Sticker
4. A Wisconsin law requires that the orange "EV Hybrid" sticker be attached to each license plate issued for an electric or hybrid vehicle. This law was passed for the safety of first responders when dealing with these types of vehicles in emergency situations.
License Plate Frames
5. License plate brackets that cover any part of the readable message on a license plate are illegal.
License Plate Covers
6. According to the law.
The plates shall at all times be maintained in a legible condition and shall be so displayed that they can be readily and distinctly seen and read. (Post-Crescent)
So that means you can't have a heavy tint in that cover like the car windows above.
