Winthrop Driver Cited for Causing Rollover Accident

The Buchanan County Sheriff is reporting that a Winthrop motorist is being charged with causing a one-vehicle rollover accident near Independence.

The sheriff was called out just before 3pm last Wednesday (Oct. 3) to a reported single car accident on 205th Street, east of Independence.

An investigation determined that the driver, Austin Ackerman of Winthrop, was traveling west, when he lost control of the 2003 Oldsmobile Alero.

The car went into the ditch and rolled, coming to rest upside down.

Ackerman had minor injuries, and did not require hospitalization.

He is being cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
