West Union Man Faces Charges in Minnesota and Iowa
A West Union man, jailed in Decorah, faces extradition to Minnesota to face numerous charges.
The Houston County, Minnesota Sheriff's Office had initially received a report of a Physical Domestic Assault, involving a handgun, at a residence in Wilmington Township.
The suspect was identified as 39 year old Thomas Monson of West Union. Authorities had warned the public that Monson is a convicted felon with a past history of violent and assaultive behaviors.
When deputies arrived at the home, Monson fled into a nearby cornfield and woods. Numerous agencies from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa conducted an extensive search, but could not find him.
Monson was located Monday (July 27) in Winneshiek County, and taken into custody. He was booked for Violation of a No-Contact Order, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and some outstanding Minnesota Arrest Warrants.
Monson was being held in the Winneshiek County jail in Decorah, waiting for extradition to Minnesota.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff was assisted in locating and arresting Monson, by the sheriff offices in Chickasaw and Howard Counties.
