Weekend Accident Near Winthrop Gas Station

A Winthrop motorist is being charged with causing a weekend 2-vehicle accident.

It happened at about 9am Saturday in the 700 block of 220th Street in Winthrop.

According to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Jacob Schmitt of Winthrop was attempting to turn left into the Speede Shoppe gas station parking lot, when he pulled into the path of an oncoming truck driven by Drew Cole of Manchester.

No injuries were reported.

Schmitt was charged with failure to yield.
