Waverly Motorist Hits Deer in Fayette Co.

A van driven by a Waverly motorist, sustained several thousand dollars in damages, when it hit a deer in rural Fayette County.

Just before 9pm Tuesday (Oct. 22), the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of an accident involving a deer on Highway 3, northwest of Oelwein.

The vehicle, driven by 70 year old Ricky Johnson of Waverly, was westbound when a deer ran onto the road, and collided with the van.

No one was injured, but there was $5,500 damage to the 2010 Chrysler van.
