Waterloo Motorcyclist Injured in Winneshiek County
A weekend motorcycle accident in Winneshiek County, has injured a Waterloo man.
The accident happened at about 1pm Saturday (Sept. 22), on Highway 52 in Calmar Township.
67 year old Daniel Redding was riding his Harley Davidson behind a sport utility vehicle with a group of other cyclists, when the SUV slowed to make a left-hand turn.
The group of motorcycle riders apparently did not see the turn signal on the SUV. the first bike was able to avoid a collision, but went into the ditch.
The second cycle, driven by 67 year old Daniel Redding of Waterloo, struck the driver's side of the SUV.
The last 2 motorcycles in the group were able to stop and avoid any further collisions.
Redding was taken by helicopter to the Decorah hospital; a condition report was not available. His passenger, whose name was not released, was transported by ambulance to the hospital. No one else was injured.
The driver of the SUV was identified as 70 year old Dennis Osmundson of Calmar. No charges were filed.
According to the Winneshiek County Sheriff, the total amount of damages was estimated at $21,000.
