Waterloo Middle School Student Wins Trip To Europe
A northeast Iowa student will be headed to Europe next week, after being one of only a few students to win the prize.
Dylan Herink, who goes to Hoover Middle School in Waterloo, is one of five students in the state of Iowa to win the trip. The prize is through AAA Travel.
It was suggested Herink try out for the prize from his science teacher at Hoover, Kelsy Knebel. Herink had to answer some essay questions and submit a selfie picture, which illustrates his love of travel.
Herink and the other students will be leaving for Europe on Wednesday. He'll be on a seven night river cruise through the Netherlands and Belgium. The group is scheduled to visit Anne Frank's house during the trip, schools in the Netherlands, and the tulip gardens.
The trip Herink won from AAA includes round-trip airfare, insurance, passport fees, meals and the costs of excursions.
