Waterloo Man Arrested in Oelwein For Assault With Weapon

Oelwein Police have arrested a Waterloo man in connection with an assault.

At about 6pm Sunday (March 25), 48 year old Gary Sumpter was taken into custody on a charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

The incident happened in the 500 block of Rock Island Road.

No other details have been released.

And Oelwein Police are looking into the report of a theft.

The incident was called in to police at about 7:30am today (Monday, March 26) from the 100 block of South Frederick Avenue in Oelwein.

Officers took a report, and an investigation is underway.
