Waterloo Child Dead, Man Arrested On Warrant
A young Waterloo child is dead, and his mother's ex-boyfriend is in jail following an apparent weekend drowning incident.
Rescue workers were called out on the report of an unresponsive 4-year-old boy at a home on W. Mullan Ave. in Waterloo late Saturday night (July 8, 2017).
Jaheem Harris was found unconscious in a bathtub; he was taken to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, where he was pronounced dead.
Jaheem's mother, Danielle Harris, was not home; her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Walter Williams, was in the home at the time, and had called 911.
Williams was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant for domestic abuse involving Danielle Harris; he was also charged with violating a no-contact order.
Meanwhile, an autopsy on Jaheem Harris is scheduled for Monday (July 10) to determine the exact cause of death.
