Vehicles Totaled, But Drivers Walk Away from Head-on Crash

A head-on weekend traffic accident near Hazleton, totaled the two vehicles, but the drivers were not hurt.

According to the Buchanan County Sheriff, it happened at about 3:30pm Saturday, in the 1200 block of Grant Avenue, a gravel road southwest of Hazleton.

A car driven by Allen Hershberger was traveling too close to the center of the road, and crashed nearly head-on into a sport utility vehicle driven by Larry Nelson of Waterloo. Hershberger's 2013 Nissan Altima and Nelson's 2004 Ford Expedition were both destroyed. The two drivers were not injured.

Hershberger was charged with Failure to Yield Half the Roadway, and Nelson was cited for Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.

The accident was covered by the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office.
