Van Hits Motorcycle Near Waverly, 2 Go to Hospital

Two people have been injured in an accident involving a van and a 3-wheel motorcycle in Bremer County.

The Bremer County Sheriff was called out at about 10:22am Thursday (Aug. 30) to the intersection of C-33 and V-14, just north of Waverly.

A van driven by 76 year old James Cole of Tripoli, did not stop at the stop sign, and struck a 3-wheeled motorcycle driven by 59 year old Richard Mennenga of Waverly.

The van ended up rolling off the road into a field, striking a utility pole.

Both drivers were taken to the Waverly hospital for treatment.

The accident is still under investigation, and charges are pending. The Bremer County Sheriff was assisted by the Waverly Fire Department, Waverly Ambulance, Emergency Management, and Butler REC.
