UPDATE: Victim of Fatal Accident in Oelwein Parking Lot Now Identified
Authorities have released the name of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by an SUV in Oelwein.
The accident happened at about 5:45pm Tuesday night (May 11), in the parking lot of the Oelwein American Legion, at 108 1st Street SW in Oelwein.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 54 year old Jacqueline Lensing of Oelwein was crouched down in front of a Ford Explorer driven by 72 year old Richard Nissen of Oelwein. When Nissen attempted to drive out of the parking lot, his SUV struck Lensing.

Lensing was taken to MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein, where she was pronounced dead.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Oelwein Police Department.
