Two Northeast Iowa Residents Die in Wisconsin Accident

Two Northeast Iowa residents have died in a one-vehicle accident in Southwest Wisconsin.

The crash happened shortly after 2:30am Sunday (April 21) in the town of Wingville, which is near Montfort, in Grant County.

50 year old George McNeese of Oran, was driving a vehicle that went off a curve, and collided with a tree.

McNeese, who also was listed as being from Independence, was killed in the accident. His passenger, 42 year old Kristen Stratman of McGregor, was also pronounced dead at the scene. Both Stratman and McNeese were ejected from the car.

The accident was investigated by the Grant County, Wisconsin Sheriff, with assistance from Fennimore Police, the Iowa County Sheriff, and Montfort Fire Department.

The accident remains under investigation, but according to the sheriff, speed appears to be a factor.

The accident was the first fatal accident in Grant County this year.
