The city of Oelwein will be looking for two people to fill vacancies in a couple of major positions.

At Monday night's regular meeting, the Oelwein City Council was informed that long-time City Attorney Ron VanVeldhuizen will be stepping down soon.

VanVeldhuizen has been Oelwein's city attorney since 1984. His tentative last day on the job would be March 1st, although that is not official.

He would continue his private law practice.

Last month, Oelwein city manager Jamie Letzring announced she is leaving, to become the new deputy city manager of West Des Moines. She will begin her new duties March 14th.

Letzring has served as Oelwein's city manager since January of 2013.

The council plans to use a search firm to fill the soon-to-be open positions.
