Four Evansdale residents have been arrested on theft and drug charges following an investigation into recent burglaries, specifically in the Washburn area.

Black Hawk County sheriff's deputies arrested Montana Gunhus, Paula Back, Paul Lorenz and Sara Schumacher after conducting searches at 1215 Lake St. and 330 Norma Ave., both in Evansdale. Authorities said stolen property from the Washburn burglaries was located at each home, as well as stolen property from other on-going investigations.

Gunhas, 33, is charged with second-degree theft and possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, three counts of unlawful possession of prescription drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Back, 34, also known as Paula Roney, is charged with second-degree theft, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

Lorenz, 42, is charged with third-offense possession of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Schumacher, 35, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She was also arrested on a warrant from Dubuque County.

Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation, sheriff's officials said. Deputies were assisted by Evansdale police.
