Tuber Near Waverly on Cedar River Struck by Boat
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating an accident on the Cedar River near Waverly, in which a tuber was struck by a boat.
The accident happened near a sandbar at about 7:45pm Sunday (July 15).
A 19 year old woman, whose name was not released, was riding a tube with some friends on the Cedar River, just north of the Stockwell Bridge near Waverly, when she was hit by a boat.
The woman was pulled out of the water by another boater, and taken to shore. The injured young woman was then taken to the Waverly Hospital, to be treated for minor head lacerations. She was released shortly after being treated.
The Iowa DNR is investigating the boater who struck the woman, for a possible boating while intoxicated charge.
The Iowa DNR was assisted by the Bremer County Sheriff.
