An accident involving a dump truck and a train in Clayton County remains under investigation.

It happened just before 12 noon on Thursday, Feb. 13th, on West North Street in Monona.

A dump truck owned by the city of Monona, was being used for snow removal, when it was struck by an Eastbound train, pulling 5 railcars.

The truck driver, whose name was not released, was initially taken to the Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin hospital, then transferred to Gunderson Lutheran in LaCrosse, with what are described as serious injuries.

The incident is still under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff's Office, which was assisted at the scene by the Monona Police Department, Monona Ambulance, Monona Fire Department, and Canadian Pacific Rail Police.
