Truck Crashes into Lowered Railroad Crossing Arms
A truck driver recently had a run-in with a railroad crossing arm in rural Buchanan County.
The accident happened last Wednesday (Oct. 18) at about 2:45pm on Highway 187, south of Lamont.
A Mack semi driven by Gary Demmer of Dyersville, was headed north, approaching a railroad crossing, when the crossing arms activated.
Demmer was not able to stop in time, going through the crossing arms as they were coming down.
No one was injured, but there was damage to the truck as well as the crossing arms.
According to the Buchanan County Sheriff, any charges would be deferred to the C.N. Railroad Police.
