It's a rare treat to hear about a celebrity, especially one of such star power, gracing a part of the state other than Chicago.

After all, Chicago is one of the biggest cities in America, but over the weekend, this iconic actor skipped the Windy City for something a bit more laid-back.

An Unexpected Visit to LaSalle

John Travolta, a household name since the 1970s, surprised everyone by popping up in the quaint town of LaSalle for a casual meal.

There was no real explanation other than he was in town with his flight instructor.

Dining at the Uptown Grill

Travolta stopped at the Uptown Grill, but that's all that's known about why he came through.

We were incredibly honored to have John Travolta visit our hometown and dine at the Uptown Grill, as well as to speak with him and snap a quick photo.

Needless to say, the experience left us with a high "Saturday Night Fever," and we would be happy to "Welcome Back, Travolta" anytime!

Travolta’s Extensive Flight Credentials

Simple Flying says Travolta has eight different planes, including a Boeing 747, Boeing 707, Gulfstream II, the Hawker 125, the Lear 24, 25, 36, the British Vampire Jet, and the Canadair CL-41 Tebuan jet.

If I had to guess why Travolta was in the area, it probably had something to do with him refueling or getting the hours needed to continue to fly, hence why his flight instructor was along for the ride.
