The Fayette County Sheriff's office reports several recent traffic accidents, a couple involving animals.
At about 12am Monday (Oct. 17) deputies responded to a car/deer accident on "N" Avenue, 3 miles west of Fayette. A car driven by 46 year old Wilma Miller of Maynard struck a deer in the road. No one was injured, and damages amounted to $750.

On Sunday evening, Oct. 9th, the sheriff was called to a traffic accident involving a cow. It happened west of Oelwein; a car driven by Mark Ackley from Fredericksburg collided with an angus cow that entered "W" Avenue. Ackley was not hurt, but there was $3,500 damage to the car.

And on Saturday (Oct. 15) just before 8am, west of Fayette, a vehicle driven by 30 year old Allison Phillips of West Union, slowed for a deer that was crossing Highway 150, north of Fayette. A car following her, driven by 27 year old Kyle Madden of Oxford, was not able to stop and rearended Phillips' car. No one was hurt. Damages totaled $5,500 for both vehicles. That accident is still under investigation.
