Police have arrested three teenagers on charges connected to a shooting that injured a 5-year-old girl in Waterloo last month.

Officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the 100 block of Argyle Street on July 18 around 9:30 PM. According to police, witnesses saw four black males running from the area toward a nearby apartment complex.

Authorities confirmed they recovered approximately 30 spent shell cases during the investigation. The shell casings were from 9mm, .40-caliber and .45-caliber handguns. Police said surveillance video from several locations in the area showed the suspects shooting at a southbound sport utility vehicle on Logan Ave. as it passed through the intersection with Argyle St.

As part of the investigation, authorities served five search warrants Tuesday morning that led to the arrests of three 17-year-old males. The unidentified suspects were each charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and willful injury.

The injured girl was treated at a Waterloo hospital. She suffered a broken arm.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the shooting should contact Waterloo police at 319-291-4340, Option 3 (Investigations).
