Many of the businesses on Main Street might operate under strange hours; that includes being closing early or completely closed on Sundays and/or Mondays. However, the Brass Tap in Cedar Falls usually is open every single day of the week. The hours may vary depending on the day of the week, but usually this Cedar Valley favorite is consistent.

Sunday through Thursday the Brass Tap is open from 11am to 10pm, and on Friday & Saturday 11am to 12am. If you walked by the restaurant Monday evening for some beer then you were as disappointed as I was to see the eatery's doors were locked and lights off.

Why is the Brass Tap closed?

On the door of the restaurant this message is taped to the door.

In all caps it reads,

"WE WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY AND TUESDAY TEMPORARILY DUE TO STAFFING SHORTAGE. WE LOOK FORWARD TO RESUMING NORMAL HOURS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A JOB AS A SERVER (PART TIME, FULL TIME), OR BARTENDER (PART TIME) THEN PLEASE APPLY ON OUR WEBSITE."

You can apply for these jobs on their website.

While this is the only statement that we have received from the restaurant, many other restaurants around the country are facing a staffing issue. At the beginning of the pandemic, countless restaurant workers were let go. Many of the restaurants in the Cedar Valley are actively searching for staff members.

When will the Brass Tap open again?

According to their website they will be resuming normal business hours on Wednesday at 11am. So, don't worry you can still grab your favorite beer sometime this week.
