Terrorism Charge Filed for a Threat Made to Hospital
An Allamakee County man is being charged with terrorism for allegedly phoning in a threat to the hospital in Decorah.
The Winneshiek County Medical Center received the threats at about 1:30pm last Saturday (Nov. 24th).
According to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office, the threats included multiple acts of violence to the hospital and it's staff.
The case became a joint investigation between the Winneshiek County Sheriff and Decorah Police Department, as well as the Winneshiek County Attorney's Office.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday (Nov. 29th), an arrest warrant and search warrant were served on 58 year old William Harrison Jr., at his home in rural Allamakee County. The warrants were served by the Decorah/Winneshiek Joint Special Response Team.
Harrison was taken into custody without further incident; he is being charged with Felony Threat of Terrorism and 2 counts of Harassment, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
More charges are pending.
The Iowa State Patrol, Allamakee County Sheriff, and Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance assisted in the investigation.
