The city of Hazleton will be temporarily without water, starting at 8 a.m. today (Thursday, April 6, 2017).

According to city officials, water is being turned off to the community due to a water main replacement and storm sewer installation project. When the water supply is turned back on, city officials said a community-wide boil advisory will be in place.

City officials plan to notify residents when the boil advisory is lifted. The boil advisory will be in place until test samples show the water supply is free of bacteria.

A posting on the city's Facebook page indicates that the water supply will be turned off again to complete the water main and storm sewer construction. The date for the turn-off, however, has not been scheduled.
