SW Wisconsin Teen Shot During Target Practice, Dies of Injuries

A Southwest Wisconsin teen is dead following a night of target shooting.

Grant County deputies were called to a Cassville residence shortly after 9pm Monday.

An investigation determined that 17 year old Jared Winkers of Cassville was participating in target practice with some of his friends, when a weapon held by 19 year old Dillon Vogt, also of Cassville, accidentally went off, and fatally wounded Winkers.

The teens were apparently using long guns and pistols.

No charges have been filed, but the case is still open, and authorities are looking into the matter.

Autopsey results are also pending.
