SUV Collides with Railroad Equipment Near Waverly
A Cedar Falls motorist could not stop in time, and collided with railroad equipment in rural Bremer County.
At about 11:30am Monday (July 8), the Bremer County Sheriff was called to the accident site, at a railroad crossing in the 1200 block of 240th Street, just south of Waverly.
A westbound Chevy Traverse driven by 74 year old Norman Sorensen of Cedar Falls, collided with a Harsco track stabilizer, at the railroad crossing. According to authorities, Sorensen's vision was hampered by vegetation next to the railroad track, and he was not able to stop in time to avoid a collision.
Sorensen and the driver of the track stabilizer, were not injured. The driver of the railroad equipment was identified as 56 year old Henry Ramey of Huntington, West Virginia.
