WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Waterloo firefighters and narcotics investigators are probing a suspicious weekend fire that injured a man.

Officers with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force searched the home several hours after Sunday's fire.

The fire started on the second floor of a home that didn't have electricity or gas service. A portable generator was being used.

Battalion Chief Mike Jenn says the man who was injured escaped the fire on his own but was taken to the hospital for treatment of burns.

The cause of the fire that started before 6 a.m. Sunday is being investigated.
