“Suspicious Person” Arrested on Drug Charges

The Oelwein Police Department reports that a local woman has been arrested after officers were called out on the report of a suspicious person.

Police were called out at about 5am today (Tuesday, July 12) to the 10 block of 3rd Avenue SE. 57 year old Wilma Jean Griffin of Oelwein was taken into custody for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

An Oelwein teen has been arrested on two outstanding warrants.

Just before midnight Sunday (July 10), Oelwein Police responded to an incident in the 100 block of 8th Avenue NW. During the investigation, 18 year old Isiah Heidt was taken into custody on a Fayette County warrant for Assault Causing injury, and a Dubuque Police Department warrant for Theft in the 2nd Degree.

Late Sunday afternoon, an Oelwein resident was cited for allowing their dog to run at large. 43 year old Gregory Sills received the citation, in the 100 block of 13th Avenue SE.
