An assist to a stranded motorist in rural Fayette County, has resulted in his arrest.


Just before 3:30pm Monday (May 13), a Fayette County deputy, out on patrol, discovered a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of 100th Street.

When the officer stopped to help the driver, it was discovered the motorist, 50 year old Michael Diehl of Oskaloosa, was allegedly drunk.

Diehl was taken into custody on charges of Operating While Intoxicated, No Valid Drivers' License, and Open Container.

Diehl was held in the Fayette County jail pending his initial court appearance.
