A Northeast Iowa school is doing a deep cleaning today, (Friday, Nov. 6), after it was discovered that an employee had tested positive for COVID-19.

Students at Tripoli Community School district started an early weekend, as classes were cancelled today (Friday) to rid the school of the coronavirus.

A Facebook post by Tripoli School superintendent Troy Heller, explains that a school staff member had tested positive for the virus.

Bremer County has a virus positivity rate of 23.2 percent. Heller notes that having the school closed, will allow custodians to do a deep clean of school buildings and classrooms.

Those people who have had close contact with the infected employee, will be contacted by the Bremer County Public Health.
