Speeding Teen Leads Sheriff on High Speed Chase

Authorities are investigating an incident early this morning (Tuesday, April 28), in which a teenage driver led law enforcement on a high speed chase, reaching speeds of over 100 miles an hour.

Just before 12:30am, a Linn County Sheriff's deputy attempted to pull over a car being driven 77 miles an hour in a 55 mile an hour speed zone on Wright Brothers Boulevard, south of Fairfax.

The driver refused to stop, and a chase began, reaching speeds of 105 miles an hour.

The pursuit went south on Highway 151, where the driver finally stopped in Walford. He was identified as 18 year old Logan Mayland of Cedar Rapids.

Mayland is being charged with multiple counts, including Attempting to Elude, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Speeding. No one was injured.

The Linn County Sheriff continues to look into the incident.
