Along with today's special elections in some area school districts, citizens in one Northeast Iowa town are going to the polls for another reason: to pick a new mayor and council member.
In January, Marquette Mayor David Schneider, along with councilperson Rinda Ferguson, resigned from their posts.

Both had disagreed with the rest of the council on granting a zoning variance for a man, so he could live in a mobile home on his property, while he built a new house.

Marquette's city attorney, city manager, and a member of the board of adjustment also quit in January.

An election for a new Marquette mayor and councilman is being held today.
