A traffic accident involving 2 pickups in Fayette County Thursday morning (Jan. 9) was apparently caused by slick road conditions.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at about 9am Thursday, reporting a two vehicle accident on Harding Road, north of Clermont.

60 year old Martin Hillman of Maynard was driving northbound, when his pickup went out of control due to the slippery road.

The vehicle crossed the center line, into the path of a pickup driven by 64 year old Kurtis Chicken of Clermont. The trucks collided, sending both into the ditch.

Chicken was treated for minor injuries. His 2010 Chevy Silverado was totaled, as was Hillman's 2008 Ford Supercrew. The accident is still under investigation.

The sheriff was assisted at the scene by Clermont Fire and Ambulance, and the Iowa DNR.
