A car/deer accident in rural Fayette County has resulted in a drug-related arrest.


At about 1am this (Tuesday, Jan. 7) morning, the Fayette County Sheriff received a 911 call, reporting a car had collided with a deer in the 13,000 block of Highway 150.

A car driven by 21 year old Amanda Stickfort of Oelwein, was northbound, when a deer entered the roadway, and the two collided. No one was injured, but the 2013 Chrysler 200 had $3,000 worth of damage.

During the investigation, officers discovered that the passenger in the car, 28 year old Lucas Bennett of Oelwein, had a warrant from Clayton County for a probation violation.

Bennett was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Introducing Contraband into a Correctional Center. He was held in the Fayette County jail until his initial court appearance.
