Sheriff Investigates Death in the County Jail

The Clayton County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident in the county jail, in which an inmate died, after attempting suicide.

51 year old Laura Johnson of Olin was being held in the Clayton County jail near Elkader, for the Delaware County Sheriff's Office. The original charge and other information on her arrest, was not available.

According to the Clayton County Sheriff, Johnson attempted suicide in the jail on September 9th. The attempt resulted in her death. The manner of her death was not released.

The Clayton County Sheriff notes that the investigation into the death is ongoing.
