Sheriff Disarms Area Man, Defusing Situation

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was able to defuse a dangerous situation.

On Thursday evening (Oct. 12), the sheriff received a call from Elgin, reporting a man with a gun who was threatening to harm himself, as well as law enforcement.

The sheriff and deputies were able to distract the man, entered the residence in Elgin, and disarm him without any further incident.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Palmer Hospital in West Union for treatment.
