Serious ATV Accident Injures Eastern Iowa Man

An eastern Iowa man has been seriously hurt in an All-Terrain-Vehicle accident in Linn County.

It happened shortly after 10:30pm Sunday (July 3) west of Mt. Vernon at a private residence on Knapp Road.

21 year old John Philipp of Cedar Rapids lost control of a John Deere Gator ATV and struck a fence. The vehicle rolled, pinning Philipp to the ground.

He was air-cared to University Hospitals in Iowa City, with life-threatening injuries. A current condition report was not available.

The accident is still under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.
