Semi Rollover Tosses Food in Rural Arlington Ditch
A semi hauling food products in Fayette County on Christmas Eve, did not make it to it's destination.
At about 3am Tuesday (Dec. 24), the Fayette County Sheriff was called out to a semi and trailer that had rolled into a ditch in the 3,000 block of "C" Avenue, about 4 miles south of Arlington.
The semi, driven by 22 year old Torrey Simpson of La Vista, Nebraska, was southbound with a trailer full of perishable foods, when the semi lost traction on the icy road. The rig and trailer went into the ditch, causing the semi to roll over, jackknife, and twist the undercarriage, and spilling it's load of perishable food into the ditch.
No one was injured, but the 2019 International semi and Reefer trailer were totaled.
The accident is still under investigation.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Strawberry Point Ambulance, Lamont Fire Department, Lamont First Responders, and Iowa State Patrol.
