Semi Driver Charged For Crashing Into Compact Car

Buchanan County authorities are charging an Independence man for causing an accident involving a car and a semi.

Shortly after 2pm last Wednesday (February 10), deputies were called to the accident scene at the intersection of 220th Street and Highway 187, west of Masonville.

A southbound Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Samantha Watsabaugh of Humeston, collided with a Freightliner semi being driven by Luke Jensen of Independence. Jensen was northbound, but was turning west.

There were only minor injuries.

Jensen is being charged with Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
The Buchanan County Sheriff was assisted at the scene by the Iowa DNR Conservation Law Enforcement.
