Semi Collides with Car Driven by an Expecting Mother

Authorities are investigating an accident in Linn County this morning (April 25), involving a car driven by a pregnant woman, and a semi.

It happened at about 9am today at the intersection of Highway 151 and Linn-Jones Road, east of Springville.

A vehicle driven by 31 year old Claudia Rodriguez-De Nunez of Toddville, failed to yield when she tried to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 151.

Her vehicle was struck by a southbound semi driven by 48 year old Francisco Rodriguez-Aparicio of Davie, Florida.

Rodriguez-De Nunez, who is 8 months pregnant, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, as a precaution.

Rodriguez-Aparicio was not hurt. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.
