Semi Attempts a Turn, Strikes a Pickup Near Oelwein

The Fayette County Sheriff is investigating an accident that happened late yesterday afternoon (Dec. 11) on the southeast edge of Oelwein, involving a pickup and a semi.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, it happened near the intersection of Outer Road and 18th Street.

61 year old Michael Recker of Oelwein was in the process of making a turn onto Outer Road with his semi, pulling a trailer, when the trailer struck a pickup stopped at the stop sign.

The driver of the pickup, 59 year old Dennis Marmann of Fayette, was not injured. His pickup sustained about $6,000 in damage. Recker was not injured. His semi had minimal damage.
