Iowa's Best Burger Contest in underway! The Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattleman's Association are hosting the 5th annual Iowa's Best Beef Burger Contest. The top ten burgers will be selected as finalists from throughout Iowa, based on number of nominations each restaurant receives. Nominations accepted February 12-March 17, 2014.

“We're looking for the best burger served in an Iowa restaurant” says Roger Brummett, a Bedford cattle producer and chairman of the Iowa Beef Industry Council. Entries must be 100% beef burgers. “Although burgers are often standard fare, we know from experience that the winners of this contest serve outstanding burgers” says Brummett.

In order to discover and recognize Iowa's Best Burgers, IBIC and ICA are again asking Iowa consumers to nominate their favorite burger or burgers via mail, online or by text.

Full details, contest rules, nomination forms and options are available online, www.iabeef.org.

Nominations can be made at the Iowa Beef Council facebook page or by texting BEEF to 313131.

The more nominations a burger or restaurant receives, the better chance it will be on the “Top Ten” list, to be announced in late March. Iowa's Best Burger 2014 will be announced the first week of May, kicking-off Beef Month.

Last year, 349 restaurants collected a total of 6,320 nominations for the contest. Past winners include: 2013—61 Chop House Grille, Mediapolis; 2012—Coon Bowl III, Coon Rapids; 2011—Rusty Duck, Dexter; 2010—Sac County Cattle Company, Sac City.

All nominations must be received in the IBIC office by 5pm March 17, 2014.
