Rural West Union Crash Under Investigation

The Fayette County Sheriff is investigating a two-vehicle accident that happened Sunday afternoon, north of West Union.

A car driven by 85 year old Laverne Koester of West Union, made contact with a pickup that was just entering the intersection of Highway 150 and 292nd Street. It was driven by 61 year old Brett Phippen of Ottumwa.

No one was injured, but there was $2,000 damage to Koester's 2001 Park Avenue, and $3,500 damage to Phippen's 2011 Ford F-150.

The accident is still under investigation.
