Rural Jesup Rollover Sends 2 to Hospital

Charges are pending in a weekend accident in Buchanan County.

Just before 7:30pm Saturday (Dec. 2), authorities were called to an accident at the intersection of Dugan Avenue and 220th Street, east of Jesup. 39 year old Todd McCloud of Oelwein was driving north, but failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. His car went through the "T" intersection, into a ditch, where it catapulted into a field, and rolled several times.

McCloud and a passenger were taken to the Independence hospital; the passenger, a juvenile, was later aircared to University Hospitals in Iowa City, where they were in serious but stable condition. McCloud was transferred to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

The accident remains under investigation by the Buchanan County Sheriff, and charges are possible.
