Rural Dunkerton Accident Puts Teen in Hospital

An accident near Dunkerton in rural Black Hawk County, has put a teenaged driver in the hospital.

According to the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, the accident was reported to authorities just before 3pm Tuesday (Aug. 21), at the intersection of Mount Vernon Road and North Canfield Road, just north of Dunkerton.

The 16 year old driver, whose name was not released, failed to stop at the intersection, colliding with a semi.

The teenager was ejected from the car; the teen was taken to UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The semi driver was not hurt.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Dunkerton Fire and EMS.
