An Oelwein man faces a list of charges after being arrested by the Fayette County Sheriff.

Just before 4:30pm Friday (Oct. 23), the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of a vehicle being driven in the middle of "K" Avenue east of Oelwein, at a high rate of speed, forcing other drivers off the road.

Deputies were able to stop the vehicle in the 600 block of East Charles in Oelwein, and arrest the driver, 30 year old Cody Skidmore of Oelwein. Skidmore had a warrant for his arrest from the Allamakee County Sheriff.

Skidmore was also charged with Driving While his License is Suspended and Reckless Driving. After being incarcerated, the sheriff obtained a warrant to search Skidmore's 2011 BMW. Offices found illegal substances, including Heroin and Methamphetamine, pills, paraphernalia, and drug testing kits.

Skidmore was then given the additional charges of 2 Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The charges of Operating While Intoxicated/Drugged are still pending. Oelwein Police assisted the Fayette County Sheriff in the arrest.
