The Buchanan County Sheriff has released information on 3 recent traffic accidents, in which the weather may have played a part.

On January 12th at about 8:30am, Buchanan County deputies were called to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 150, west of Rowley. A Ford Edge driven by Ashley Even of Rowley, went out of control, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with a pickup driven by Harold Knaack of Vinton. Even was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids with non-life threatening injuries, and Knaack was transported to the Independence hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Charges are pending.

Last Monday (Jan. 14), shortly after 5:30pm, officers responded to a one vehicle accident in the 2900 block of Overland Avenue, southwest of Quasqueton. A 16 year old male was the driver; he lost control and drove into the ditch, where it rolled over, stopping upside down. No one was injured, but the 2004 Ford F-150 was totaled.

And on Tuesday (Jan. 15) at about midnight, deputies were called to an accident near the intersection of 220th Street and Henley Avenue, west of Independence. A pickup driven by Terry Hoffman of Washburn went out of control, entered the ditch and struck a fence. No one was injured, but Hoffman was charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
