The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office is now releasing details of 2 traffic accidents in which icy roads from last week's wintery weather were a factor.

Shortly after 4:30pm last Monday (Nov. 19), on the Brandon Diagonal south of Independence, a pickup driven by a 15 year old juvenile from Rowley went out of control.

The truck went into a ditch and rolled, striking a utility pole, and came to rest upside down. The teen was taken to the Independence hospital with minor injuries. He is being charged with Failure to Maintain Control, and Violation of a School Permit.

The other accident happened at about 2:15pm last Monday, at the intersection of Nolan Avenue and Linn-Buchanan Road, southeast of Rowley.

A car driven by Kaytlyn Frasher of Walker slid on the icy road past a stop sign into the intersection, broadsiding a dump truck driven by Robert Arp of Walker.

No one was injured; the dump truck was not damaged, but Frasher's 2006 Chevrolet Malibu had an estimated $2,500 in damage. No charges were filed.
