Recall of Frozen Meals Impacts Products Sold in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin
A voluntary recall has been issue for two major brands of frozen meals by one of the biggest food companies in the country. The recall spans a wide range of dates that go back to summer/fall of 2024.
The voluntary recall has been issued by Nestlé USA, which owns a wide variety of brands across multiple product sectors: beverages, chocolates, cereals, seasonings, refrigerated products, and more. They might be most commonly associated with chocolate, but their market reach is broad, to put it mildly.
Nestlé USA is recalling a limited quantity of Lean Cuisine and Stouffer's frozen meals due to the potential for a wood-like material/substance present in the meals. Per Nestlé USA's website, the recall is isolated to a limited quantity of the following items:
- Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli
- Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli
- Lean Cuisine Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry
- Stouffer's Party Size Chicken Lasagna
The aforementioned items that are affected were produced between August 2024 and March 2025. These products were available at major, national retailers between September 2024 and March 2025. No other Lean Cuisine or Stouffer's products were affected.

Nestlé USA said that consumers who purchased these products should not prepare nor consume them and instead return them to the retailer where it was purchased for a replacement or full refund. They added that the company is actively investigating the wood-like material, and that this is an isolated incident.
The company is also working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Those who want to reach out to Nestlé USA can do so at (800) 681-1676 Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm CST.
