Huge 90s Band Set to Rock RAGBRAI’s Mason City Stop
It must be summertime if RAGBRAI news is on the minds of Iowans. The 2022 edition will feature an overnight stop in Mason City and, if you're familiar with RAGBRAI you know overnight stops generally have entertainment for the riders.
Mason City is no exception! The city that's known to be the home to Music Man creator Meredith Willson (useless fact: we share a birthday, May 18th) is not going with a 76 trombone salute, they're going with a popular 90s band that had a slew of huge hits.
The Des Moines Register reports the big musical act for Music Man city is non-other than Sugar Ray!
The show will happen on Wednesday, July 27 as RAGBRAI riders hit the city for their overnight stop.
Sugar Ray has been in the music scene since the mid-80s but hit it big in the late 1990s with the album 14:59, which had the monster hits "Every Morning", "Falls Apart" and "Someday". They also had the hit "Fly" on their previous album "Floored".
Mark McGrath, the band's lead singer, took the gig hosting the popular syndicated gossip/entertainment show "Extra" in January 2006. They reunited in the late 2000s and have put out more albums, and been touring ever since.
Also joining Sugar Ray for entertainment is legendary Eagles guitarist Don Felder. Felder was with the Eagles from 1974 until 2001. He went into the Nashville Musicians Hall of Fame in 2016.
The last time there was an overnight stop in Mason City was back in 2014. The Des Moines Register reminds us that for that year, the city got Bret Michaels from Poison and the hit show "Rock of Love" to perform.
